Strike alert at Felixstowe port

Distribution time:2022-08-17 15:26:02 Views: times

According to Felixstowe port official news, after weeks of pay negotiations, unite members at Felixstowe have eventually confirmed their strike action from 21-29 August.

In response to the strike, the Port has in place a contingency plan designed to maximize their operational activity, carriers like Maersk have announced they do not plan on diverting vessels into other ports, but rather accelerating or delaying arrivals around the strike action, other carriers seem to do the same thing as Maersk.

To support our customers, we have also set up a contingency plan in the UK side to shunt any containers that are available off the port into our storage facility to avoid or minimize expensive quay rent during the strike. For containers available to collect by 21 August, we will support haulage slots as more as possible and will also be looking to preload all deliveries booked for Monday 22 August on Friday 19 August.

In this difficult time, your understanding and cooperation are much appreciated, together we will ride this out.
